Make your website fast on phones

Most of your visitors use phones, often on patchy connections. If your site takes too long to appear, many of them leave before they see it.

  1. Go to pagespeed.web.dev and enter your website address.
  2. Look at the Mobile result. You'll see a score out of 100 and a list of suggestions.

What the score means:

  • 90+: great. Nothing urgent.
  • 50–89: OK, worth one fix.
  • Under 50: fix it this week.

The most common problems on sites like yours:

  • Big images. The suggestions will mention image size or format. Run the named images through squoosh.app again, as on day 8.
  • Too many photos on one page. Keep your best 4–6 and remove the rest.
  • Anything added from other websites, such as fonts, widgets or trackers. If you added something since day 6, ask whether you really need it.

Fix one thing using the change routine, upload, and test again.

Also test by hand: open your site on your phone using mobile data, not Wi-Fi. Does it feel quick? Can you read it without zooming? Can you tap the call button easily?

Done when: you've tested, fixed the biggest problem, and your mobile score is 50 or higher.
