Set up your enquiry inbox

It might feel backwards to set up enquiries before you have a website. It isn't. Your contact form is the most important part of your website. It's the part that brings in work. So we build it first and test it properly.

What any good enquiry tool must do, whichever one you use:

  • send every enquiry to you within seconds
  • filter out spam, so real enquiries don't get buried
  • keep your enquiries somewhere safe, with a clear privacy policy that says where they're stored
  • let you export everything and leave whenever you like

MyFormConnect does all of this, and it's what the rest of the course uses.

What it costs. Everything in this course works on the free plan: your form, spam protection and email alerts. Some extras are on paid plans, such as alerts in messaging apps and a short AI summary of each enquiry (Pro Plan — Monthly (Recommended), with a 7-day free trial). You don't need them to finish the course. If a lesson mentions a paid extra, we'll say so right there.

  1. Go to MyFormConnect signup and create your account.
  2. Add your website's domain (the one you bought yesterday) under Settings → Domains. This tells MyFormConnect to accept enquiries from your site. Copy the domain ID shown there.
  3. Create a form and call it "Contact". Copy its form ID. Save both IDs in your notes. You'll paste them into tomorrow's lesson.
  4. Turn on email alerts, sent to the email address you check most. Then, on your phone, make sure notifications are switched on for that email app, so each enquiry pops up like a message.
  5. Send yourself a test enquiry from the test option in your dashboard, and check that the alert reaches your phone.

What you just set up

  • Spam filtering. Junk submissions are caught before they reach you.
  • Your enquiry history in one place. Nothing gets buried in your inbox, and you can export it any time.
  • Optional, on paid plans: alerts in a messaging app, and a short summary of each enquiry showing what the person wants and how urgent it sounds.

We'll use all of these later in the course.

Done when: your test enquiry reached your phone, and your two IDs are saved for tomorrow.
