Ask for reviews the right way

When people compare businesses on Google, reviews decide more than almost anything else. And the reviews that help most mention what you did and where: "Fixed our leaking boiler in Headingley the same day."

  1. Get your link. In your Google Business Profile, look for Ask for reviews or Get more reviews. Copy the link.
  2. Write your message. Save this in your phone's notes, and personalise it:
Prompt — copy into your AI assistant
Hi {customer name}, thanks for choosing {business}. If you have a minute, a short Google review really helps a small business like ours. It helps if you mention what we did and roughly where. Here's the link: {link}. Thank you! {your name}
  1. Send it to your last 5–10 customers today. Then make it a habit: send it the same day you finish each job.

The rules (these protect you):

  • Ask everyone, not just happy customers. Picking only the people you think will leave good reviews goes against Google's rules, and it isn't honest.
  • Never offer anything in return: no discounts or gifts for reviews. That's against the rules too.
  • Never write reviews yourself, or ask family or friends to pretend to be customers.
  • Never pay anyone for reviews.

If you use MyFormConnect's lead status: when you mark an enquiry as "won", that's your reminder to send the message.

Done when: your message is saved and you've sent it to at least 5 past customers.
