When people compare businesses on Google Maps, they choose the one that looks real, active and clear. Today you make your profile all three.
Open your profile (search for your business name on Google while logged in, or go to business.google.com) and fill in:
- Hours: your normal hours, and holiday hours when they come up.
- Services: add each service, with a one-line description and a price range if you can. Use the same words as your website.
- Extra categories: add up to a few more that genuinely fit, such as "Bathroom remodeler" alongside "Plumber".
- Description: two or three plain sentences. What you do, where, and for whom. No lists of keywords.
- Photos: at least 5 real photos. Your logo, you at work, finished jobs, your van or premises. Add a few new ones every month. Active profiles look trustworthy.
- Questions and answers: if your profile shows this section, add two or three of your common questions with your answers.
- Check your details: name, address and phone must match your website exactly, character for character.
Tip: you can manage your profile from the Google Maps app on your phone, so adding a photo after a job takes seconds.
Done when: every section is filled in and your details match your website exactly.
